Biography
Kevin B. Johnson, MD, MS, is Penn’s David L. Cohen University Professor and Vice President of Applied Clinical Informatics. A pediatrician, computer scientist, and internationally recognized informatics leader, his work focuses on AI and clinical documentation. He has authored 200+ publications, co-created the Who, Me? STEMM book series, and was elected to the National Academy of Medicine. His forthcoming memoir, MisFit: Notes on Belonging, Brilliance, and the Spaces Between, traces a Black physician-scientist’s journey from otherness and compartmentalization toward belonging, wholeness, and authentic leadership.

Dr. Kevin Johnson examines the populations still underserved by digital health, including rural communities, older adults, Medicaid patients, and those facing language or digital literacy barriers, and outlines evidence-based strategies to design and scale more inclusive telehealth solutions without sacrificing clinical quality.
